Drama Boy: "Daddy, can we go outside in the backyard and cut weeds with Mr. Cool's pocket knife?!"
Dad: "Um ........ No."
Just an ongoing story of us with all of the fun, drama, love, beauty, frustration, and joy that comes with a wonderfully average family of five!
Thank u 4 posting again, these little family funny-moments seriously brighten my day! i only just checked back out of curiousity as u hadnt posted since dec 2010. btw, what colour r alexandras eyes? i notice in some of your quality pictures they look green, but in others looks grey?
ReplyDeleteI honestly think they change colors! From day to day, we can't decide if they are grey, green, or about the same color as her hair. :)
Deletedo u still sell bows/dresses? if so whats the e-mail address? i remember seeing them and thinking how adorable they were!
ReplyDeletemy daughter refuses to eat grapes, cucumbers or basically any juicy type of fruit, any tips?
ReplyDeleteYou can try adding them to a shake or smoothie. My kids love smoothies made with about 5 grapes, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup of yogurt, 1/2 cup juice or milk. Sometimes I add a few berries or just a bit of chocolate syrup to sweeten things a little more. The kids think of it like a dessert. ;)
DeleteMaking it fun is a great thing to do also. Making a sandwich with peanut butter and sliced fruit. My kids like strawberries and bananas. I put fruit in their lunches with little toothpicks and they love eating them that way. I also give them cream cheese or other dip to go with apples. I hope this helps! Good luck~
i notice on minidiva hair youv been dressing her in shorts and tops, do u ever dress ur girl in dungarees/childish clothes? my 7 year old loves to wear these pink dungarees she has and was wondering if it was suitable, seeing as ur baby is dressing so grown uppy :)
ReplyDeleteYES! I love to dress her in little girl things still! She has a pair of purple jeans that she just loves to wear with this little top with a butterfly on it. ;) She chooses most of her clothes and I just say no to the ones I feel are inappropriate. So, I mainly leave it to her. But I don't think you should dress them too old! "Childish" clothes are sweet and lovable and you should put them on her as long as you can! ;)
Deletedo you ever have off days with alex? like tantrums and such?
ReplyDeleteever kid does annon
DeleteYes, she has her days! Usually, she gets upset about one little thing or is tired and acts up for a while. We don't have many tantrums anymore, but she still cries occasionally when I tell her no. Does that make sense? Just remember to take them away from whatever situation they are in (to the best of your ability) and stay calm! Kids this age are still learning to express their emotions and sometimes do not have the right words to really tell us about their frustrations. Every kid does have their rough days! My older kiddos have off days too!
Deletehow do you control her?
DeleteHonestly, my goal is for Miss Sass to control herself. I provide opportunities for her to exercise control over her emotions and her choices. Kids learn very quickly, so long as we as parents are consistent. If you help her learn from mistakes by giving logical consequences, she will realize that it is within her power to change the outcome next time.
DeleteExamples:
If she doesn't clean her room and you have to do it... she doesn't get to stop by the park later because you are too tired from cleaning up her mess.
If she says something rude to you like, "I don't like you" or "You're not a good Mommy", choose not to do something nice for her because she hurt your feelings.
Kids are very manipulative, usually without even realizing it. You are teaching them the appropriate way to get what they want with your response to their behavior.
whats your daughters name? she is SOOOOOOOOO SWEETTTT!!! love the 'flaming imagination' look
ReplyDeleteWe keep our kids' names quiet for the most part, just to be on the safe side. ;) But she has several nicknames, including: Sis, Little Miss Sass, Princess, A, and combinations thereof. ;) Feel free to use whatever!
Deletefor the best :D

ReplyDeletecan you recomend a cute party dress for my just turned 6 year old?
ReplyDeletePARTY DRESS Anon- I am a huge fan of GAP for party dresses, though you usually have to shop at the right time of the year. Department stores are great almost all year round! My favorite brands are Ooh La La Couture, Juicy for girls, Biscotti, etc. Chasing Fireflies is a great way to shop for girls because they have tons of adorable brands! Good luck finding the right dress. ;)
ReplyDeletethanks so much, your a real life saver :) my lil babys got a party in 5 days!!!! I'm going to a shopping centre tomorrow (just incase online delivery gets delayed :) and I'm going to keep an eye out for your recommended brands!
